Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Winter, Week 21&22, Oct 18

---- Planting Garlic ----

Charles, Jordan and Jacob planted 3 trays of garlic this year! Up from 2 last year. Every year we plant more garlic, slowly building up our supply. We replant our own garlic which has proven itself as winter hardy. After planting, we cover it with 4 inches of straw.

---- Green and Yellow Beans ----

We harvested a bunch of Green and Yellow Beans before the hard freeze last week. We had covered them during the previous frosts, and the warm week in early October let them make it across the finish line. One last taste of summer!

---- Welcome to Winter ----

And with 3-5" of snow predicted for tomorrow, it will feel like Winter! Should have a nice variety of produce for this delivery, and the next one in two weeks. Plus eggs and honey. After that, the harvest dwindles to what is in storage for next 2 months. Once the sun starts to get stronger in January, we will start up our hydroponic system, and see what we can get while there is still snow outside!

Thanks,
Phil.
