Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer, Week 5, June 28

---- Broccoli ----

Broccoli has come very nicely. Heads are good size despite our dry and hot spell last week. Timely rain should help the remaining heads mature for next week.

---- Mustard ----

We are harvesting the last of the mustard this week. It has that temporary sharp heat you get from mustard - try mixing some in with your salad. Or another way, make a wasabi substitute (blend the leaves into a paste) and use it as a dip for Asian foods.

---- Tomato and Pepper Plants Love the Heat ----

Tomato and Peppers love hot and dry. They are growing quite nicely, with enough moisture available deeper in the ground. As I do deliveries, I see some members have tomato plants that are blossoming, or even have little tomatoes! Good job getting the jump on things. Homegrown tomatoes cannot be beat! Ours are not that far along, but they are looking good.

Thanks,
Phil.
