Farm Happenings for September 15, 2021

Howdy All!

The next few weeks will be pivotal to the smooth transition from our Summer crops to more of our Fall and Winter veggies. Our early plantings have germinated well and you should start to see veggies we haven't seen since Spring. This week we have a couple of radish varieties in the mix. One is the mild flavored French Breakfast Radish. The other is a radish grown for its seed pod, Dragon's Tail. These small tender pods are packed with peppery flavor. Cooking them mellows the spiciness a bit or go full flavor in a salad or as a garnish fresh. We are still holding on to as many as our Summer crops for as long as the weather and conditions will allow. A few crops are nearing their end such as our Millionaire Eggplant and Louisiana Long Eggplant but we are getting really close to harvesting other long term sowings such as sweet potato and peanuts. We are pleased with our progress and look forward to a highly diverse and productive Fall and Winter!

Thank you for your continued support of local agriculture!
