Farm Happenings for Week of June 6th

Posted on June 2nd, 2022 by Lorraine Blackwell

With the heat we have had coupled with some rain, the crops are taking off in the fields. The zucchinis have tiny fruits, the cucumbers are looking great, and the peas are growing taller everyday. A few more weeks and we will be enjoying all this treats!

This week will be the last week to snag some rhubarb from Fair Fields Farm so be sure to get enough for your freezer! The salad mix has exploded in size so there is lots of go around and the kohlrabi and spring turnips are looking big and juicy. Our second planting of radishes is ready with the first of the bunched chard and kale also available. Lots more bunched greens in future weeks!

There are still a few transplants for sale: primarily herbs and peppers. It's not too late to plant these!

On this off-week for deliveries, I have been busy planting all the warm weather crops. The tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, zucchini, cucumber, potatoes, basil and more have been planted. The only major crop left to plant is the winter squash which should happen soon.
