Summer Share Week Three

Whew! It's been a busy harvest day! Terran and I spent the better part of the day harvesting 2400 bulbs of garlic and they look great so far! Fingers crossed that they cure well and then we will have lots of garlic to enjoy for the rest of the season. I also just harvested the cucumbers and filled 5 bulb trays, which amounts to approximately 250 cucumbers. Generally, I can harvest cucumbers every 2 - 3 days soooo....there are going to be lots of cucumbers to go around for all the members! I have already told my family that they can expect cucumber juice for breakfast, cucumber gazpacho for lunch, and cucumber salad with supper. I hope all the share members also do their part to use up this bounty :)

Another exciting addition to our 'Extras' offerings is our very own fermented garlic scapes. These are a co-production between ourselves and Funky Ferments. Eli uses our produce and ferments and bottles it in his production kitchen so that we can sell. I used some in our guacamole at lunch today and it was delicious. These have a mild garlic flavour and the fermentation gives them a nice herbal scent. Fun!
