Farm Happenings for October 2, 2021

Posted on September 27th, 2021 by Jenny Berkenbosch

We are so excited to bring you the fall edition of our farm share!

This season holds a great deal of variability - some days we harvest in the snow, and some we shed our warm layers of clothes and feel as though summer has returned.  One thing is always the same, though, and that is that we are busy storing away as much from the fields as possible. Our fresh herbs are being dried, our squash is curing in the barn loft, and our cold storage is filling with potatoes, carrots, beets and other wonderful, warming food.

We have started the long-awaited construction of our no till beds. James has been modifiying some more equipment to make spreading our deep mulch of composted manure easier and faster. I (Jenny) marvel at his competency and creativity. It sure makes things easier in the long run, and more sustainable.

We hope that you enjoy your first fall share this season, and please take advantage of the opportunity to swap or add extras.

Warmly,

Jenny and James
