Farm Happenings for August 29, 2020

Posted on August 24th, 2020 by Jenny Berkenbosch

Hey Everyone,

We hope you've been enjoying your summer veggies! At this part of the season, the farm is extremely productive, with many of our crops beginning to yield.  This means we are working hard to bring in what we've planted, both for our weekly customers as well as for winter storage. It is an exciting (and exhausting!) time of year. We've really enjoyed seeing some of your veggie creations on social media, and would love to see more! Please share with us what you are creating with your farm box produce (instagram @sundogorganicfarm).  We are excited to share a few new items with you this week - broccolini and hakurei turnips.  The broccolini has delectable stems and should be enjoyed in its entirety.  The hakurei are a tender summer turnip and can be enjoyed raw, sauteed, grilled or steamed.  The leaves are very nutritious and delicious and we use them in soups, frittatas, or just braised and eaten like spinach.  Enjoy!!

Until next week,

James and Jenny
