First of the Tomatoes

Posted on August 8th, 2023 by Ron Meyer

After 15 years of looking for the best regular red tomato for us to grow, Ron may have finally found it. This year, “Damsel” has shown good disease resistance, high production, and excellent taste. It’s sweet and not crunchy. We’ll see what happens as the season progresses, but it’s looking good so far. We have a good amount of Damsel tomatoes available this week on the farm stand. Heirloom tomato varieties offer outstanding taste and lovely colors, but if you’re looking for a round red tomato, try Damsel!

Other items on the farm stand this week include the first green onions, as well as a few other tomatoes, red beets, new potatoes, garlic, green beans, kale, romaine, cucumbers, flower bouquets, and fresh herbs. Also farm eggs and grass-fed beef, jam, and local honey.
