The Fall Garden

Posted on September 28th, 2021 by Ron Meyer

Things are changing in the gardens now that the nights are growing chilly. We still have tomatoes, but they are winding down. The green beans and peppers are growing more slowly, and the flowers are fading—except for the dahlias. The beets and kale, on the other hand, are enjoying the cooler weather, and the new rows of salad mix and romaine are finally growing. We should have some of both next week.

Ron has been digging more sweet potatoes, so we have those on the list again this week. We still have some red raspberries, but those are winding down now too. Also on the list are tomatoes, peppers, kale, garlic, green beans, beets, a bit of arugula and romaine, tea mix, flower bouquets and herbs. Plus free-range eggs, strawberry and raspberry jam, local honey, and grass-fed beef.

Fall is here, and with colder weather the produce won’t be as abundant, but we will continue our weekly deliveries through the end of October. After that our deliveries will be less frequent.
