Farm Happenings for January 30, 2019: Week 3 of 10!

Posted on January 25th, 2019 by Robinette Farms

It's another cold week on the farm...

BUT, we have officially completed our first planting in the NEW micro greens greenhouse! This has been a long work in progress and we are finally done!

This week we will be moving out of our vegetable propagation greenhouse and into the new microhouse, and Chris, our micro greens grower, couldn't be happier.

This project has taken us many months to complete: 1) because there was a summer growing season in the middle and 2) because much of the design of this building was "create it as you go"!

Alex has worked hard to design and implement a greenhouse that would be more efficient to run in the winter months to make growing our micro greens and shoots more enjoyable and economically viable.

The in-floor radiant heat is a joy to work in and it was a HUGE project to install the tubing and concrete last spring, and install the boiler this fall. We are confident our micro greens will love to grow with this radiant heat and we are looking forward to the challenge of learning how different the plants will grow in this new house!

We have been posting about this project on our Instagram page and will continue to update that with pictures of a full house in a couple weeks!

Enjoy your share this week!
