Farm Happenings for September 19, 2018: Week 16 of 20

Posted on September 14th, 2018 by Robinette Farms

Things are finally drying out on the farm this week! This is the fall season we have all been waiting for!

This week our crew has been busy digging storage potatoes, cleaning up fields and high tunnels, planting, and harvesting, harvesting, harvesting!

Now is the time of year we begin to think about the 2019 growing season. What did we do great at? What failed? How can we improve next year? What changes do we want to make? How can we take another step toward our larger goals?

Alex and I are already starting the financial planning for next year as well as working on staff positions for another busy season next year. We always have lofty goals, and there are benefits and drawbacks to this!

It has long been a vision of ours to grow enough food and have a secure enough storage facility that we could offer a year-round CSA option for all of our CSA rockstar Members who can't get enough of local eating. We are currently working on a plan to make that happen for the 2019-2020 season! This is very exciting for us and exciting for our dedicated farm crew, as this means we will have opportunities for year-round employment for folks who love to farm. Farming isn't the best paid job, but people who farm don't do it for the money, they do it because they love the work.

For now, we are able to offer a Fall Share that will go right up until Christmas, so if you haven't signed up now is the time! We only have less than 20 spots left so act quickly!

Stay tuned this fall for a possible Micro Greens Share this winter!

Thanks for supporting local food!

Happy Eating,
Farmer Chloe
