Farm Happenings for July 24, 25, and 27, 2019: Halfway through the Summer Season!

Posted on July 19th, 2019 by Robinette Farms

Can you believe we are in the last full week of July?

The RF Crew is slogging through the heat this week and we have been doing our best to keep everything (people, animals, and crops) hydrated to keep the system functioning as best as we can. As soon as a cool down comes there will be another big push for planting fall roots and more of the fall transplants we are trying to keep alive, as well as cover crops to replenish our soil for the 2020 season.

KZUM’s How's it Growin'? - Nebraska Local Farm Tour next Saturday July 27th

Join us on a local farm tour to expand your awareness about local food and flowers and meet the innovative growers that bring their beautiful products through community supported agriculture shares or local farmer’s markets every week. Here we will walk the land and hear direct from the farmers about the challenges and success they have had.

  • Grow With The Flow—1524 Yankee Hill Rd, Denton, NE: 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Robinette Farms—Chloe Diegel & Alex McKiernan--Southwest 14th Street 17675, Martell, NE: 11-12:15 p.m.
  • Lunch provided by Brockley Farmaceuticals: 12:30 p.m.

Country Lane Gardens Eggs

For an unknown reason, our hens have started laying fewer eggs in the last few weeks. We are perplexed by this and thus far have been able to serve all of you with our own eggs for your egg shares from Robinette Farms.

However, starting next week some of you may see eggs from another producer from outside of Columbus called Country Lane Gardens. These folks have almost identical practices as ours and so we feel comfortable substituting their eggs for our own.

They are 100% no added hormones or steroids, fed a non-GMO feed (roasted soybeans, corn, oats, and minerals) and they are on pasture 3 seasons out of the year. Nothing will change on your end other than you will see a different label on an egg carton!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us!

Happy Eating this week!
