Farm Happening (7th DELIVERY SUMMER out of 20)

Posted on July 7th, 2022 by Diane Riehm

Farmer Phil's TOP 5 from the field this week!

* These LOOK very healthy!  * TASTE oh-so good!

1. Fresh Beans mixed colors - an old-wives tale says KEEP THE BEAN TAIL ON as it stores good vitamins and minerals. Only SNIP OFF THE STEMS.

2. Cilantro - many people are unaware of its many health benefits.

3. Carrots with tops mixed colors - Strip the leaves from the tough stems, add them to stock or soup, throw in salads, create homemade pesto.

4. Kale mixed varieties - make sure to change your greens for your smoothies to prevent alkaloid build up in the body. This isn’t anything to be too concerned about – as long as you ♥ ROTATE YOUR GREENS! ♥

5.
Summer Sausage from livestock raised in Riehm's own pastured field - it's already smoked and prepared, so it won't need cooked. A grab and go food that's great for summer get togethers!

EAT with the season to grab the most NUTRITION!

P.S. Happily, yes carrot tops CAN BE FROZEN.
  1. Simply remove the leaves from the stems. Wash and spin to remove water.
  2. After dry, place in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and put in freezer.
  3. Leave a couple hours and remove. Quickly place in a Ziploc bag, remove air and leave in freezer until using.

Warmly,
Phil, John & Diane Riehm
