Farmer Phil's TOP 5 this week!
These LOOK healthy!
* TASTE oh-so good!
* Harvesting PLENTY right NOW!

1.  Cucamelon - If you haven't tried this fun item you need to! They look like a mini watermelon but taste like a cucumber. Get to snacking on these while you still can!

2.  Lettuce - Fresh lettuce is a must have staple to keep in the fridge! Have it on hand to add to sandwiches, wraps, or make a quick tossed salad to serve as a side.

3.  Apples - It's apple season! Coming from Quarry Hill Orchards, we have honey crisp and mix eating apples to name a few. We also have a 25 pound special on our grade B apples (these have a nick or two but are still edible and would be great for making apple butter or applesauce)  Check out Chef Gretchen's braised cabbage and apples recipe for a fun new way to eat apples.

4.  Kohlrabi -  A great addition to a healthy diet, Kohlrabi with its richness in calcium and magnesium can contribute to stronger bones! Kohlrabi is a versatile vegetable. The leafs can be used in salads, sauteed or steamed. Try it's crunchy balb in slaws and dips or roasted like you would other vegetables.

5. Maple Syrup - Many of our customers are reading a sign we have at our roadside stand. Because cutting back on white sugar is always a good thing for the body!
Try it Today: 1/2 cup of maple syrup = 3/4 cup white sugar + Plus reduce liquid in recipe by 1/4 cup.
Check out our BLOG about the Brundage's. A local family who supplies us with our maple syrup.

P.S. Don't forget to sign up TODAY on our NEW platform to continue enjoying the goodness of a CSA Market Box.

P.S.S. Last year on November 4th we had a blizzard with subzero temperatures and VERY HIGH WINDS that blew the skins off of several of our greenhouses. We have buttoned them down with several extra supports so that YOU will have more choices in your CSA Market Boxes. YEAH!

Warmly,
Phil, John, & Diane Riehm
