Farm Happenings for September 21, 2020

Posted on September 19th, 2020 by Emma Rainwater

Hi Friends!

Things on the farm are starting to slow down after a very busy season. We're seeding greens for our greenhouse and tunnels for the winter and getting the fields ready for planting garlic in October. This is always a part of the season when we do a lot of reflecting as we start looking ahead to next year. We have a few big plans to add a large asparagus patch, improve our cut flower garden, and outfit a new wash/pack shed over the winter.

For the shares the tomatoes surprised me - we'll definitely have more available this week (although sadly the flavor won't be quite as good as it was during the summer). Greens are doing great and the peppers, tomatillos, and basil are still hanging in there. They're protected from the cold in a covered tunnel and it's been keeping them warmer during these chilly nights.

Hope you're all doing ok this week, best wishes from our family to yours

Emma, Naomi, & Norah
