Farm Happenings for August 30, 2022

Posted on August 27th, 2022 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Happy weekend, everyone!

Quite the rainy evening it turned out to be. We've really loved this season's weather overall though. The rain/sun/rain/sun combos have been really great for most things in the garden, and no wildfires as of yet sure is a nice bonus!

Just about everything is ready now from the market garden, so we have quite a few new crops to add to the customization period. We also have some more crops from Earl at Silver Birch Farm that we don't grow ourselves, but wanted to make sure we had! The rainbow carrots, red potatoes, and garlic are all from Silver Birch Farm (naturally grown but not certified organic).

We also have LOTS of dill for anyone doing some canning right now - larger quantities are listed as extras. We're working on getting some bulk tomatoes from Big Rock Ranch in 100Mile so those would be available for preorder once we've confirmed.

I wanted to add just a couple reminders for folks:

1.) if you ever notice anything missing in your share, please do let me know! I will credit your account.

2.) I've noticed a few boxes that have less than the weekly share value in them, likely because sometimes, folks don't need a ton of veggies some weeks so they remove items from their shares (often it's off by just a little bit, which is normal). If this is the case, I would suggest skipping that week: I didn't realize until this season that customers are charged the minimum share cost ($28 or $34) regardless, which I don't love because I can't easily keep track of differences in payments for each member. I don't want anyone to miss out on value so I would skip the week if you really don't need anything! I will do things a little differently next year to avoid this ;) If there are weeks you noticed you ordered significantly less than the box value you were charged for, please let me know and I'll credit your account for the difference.

That's it for now I think. Have a great weekend, everyone. See you Tuesday!
