July: Some of the last plantings already!

Posted on July 12th, 2022 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Hey everyone!

Hope you're enjoying the first half of July. Can't believe it's here already. Some of the last plantings of the season are already happening: I don't plant storage carrots, for example, any later than the first week of July becuase otherwise, they won't mature in time. Same with things like broccoli, kohlrabi, and cabbage. But there is still lots we will continue planting until early September, and we just put the beans in 2 weeks ago: I like having them a bit later in the season as they produce much better when it's warm and dry. Which it hasn't really been lately!

I wanted to make a quick note about some of the amounts of veggies going into folks' shares. I've noticed some shares going out the door with less value in them than they should have, and I want to make sure you're all getting the value you're entitled to from every share. Harvie made some changes to the system since last year, so I may be screwing some things up when I add items to deliveries each week - I will look into this - but I also wanted to make sure I pointed out the Box Value Alert that comes up if the items in your cart during customization are under value. If you've noticed some things you didn't order the last couple weeks, that's why! I've just added a few here and there to make sure you're getting enough. Here are some details about the Box Value Alert:

Box Value Alert

The price of your share is a minimum spend amount - this means that when items are removed from your cart, the price of your share remains the same until the total value of your cart is more than the share price.

If the total value of the products in your cart is less than the value of your share, you will see an alert indicating that you may add products without incurring an additional charge.
