Farm Happenings for July 5, 2022

Posted on July 2nd, 2022 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Happy long weekend, everyone!

Hope you're all soaking in some sun, some festivities, or just some peace and quiet this weekend. Apologies for a late customization email, hoping this catches most of you before the cut-off time. I've extended it a little bit to give some extra time.

Happy to see some of the summer crop variety picking up, and we have some of this variety slowly making its way into the boxes this week: carrots, purple and green kohlrabi, summer squash, lettuce cabbage, and carrots! Most peoples' favourite ;) We're hoping to have carrots most weeks for you from now until the end of the season.

We also have one more addition to our external local products: locally-roasted coffee from Uncle Paul's Gourmet Blends! Mike uses certified organic beans in his coffee blends and they're consistently delicious.

We have a new member on our farm crew: a family friend from the Netherlands wanted to come to the farm for the summer, so he is with us now until end of August. His name is Kick and he's just graduated from his pre-university studies in Holland. He's been a great help so far, especially in trying to stay on top of the weeds! And you'll likely see him at some of the markets over the summer.

Thanks for being flexible last Tuesday everyone, I really appreciate that - turned out to be a good decision on the part of the market to cancel. It was a nasty storm! So I really appreciate your working around all of that. See you later this week! Have a great weekend, everyone.
