Organic BLUEBERRIES are here! PLUS get a $25 veggie credit!

Posted on July 24th, 2021 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Hey Everyone!

We are heading into WEEK 7 of our CSA program. I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify how the CSA payment plan works, in case anyone is unsure. A customer asked me about this at the market this week, so I thought it would be a good idea to send it out to everyone!

The amount you all paid during CSA sign-up covered 5 weeks of deliveries. This is a sort of "deposit" to hold your spot for the entire season when you purchase a CSA share. Once the 5 weeks passes, you are simply charged weekly for each delivery thereafter, until the CSA program ends mid-October. If you are paying by credit card, you will see the cost of your share going on your CC each week, in addition to any extras you may have purchased or swap charges.

Since we are going into week 7, you would have seen a charge on your CC from week 6, and will see another for week 7, etc. Hope that makes sense! For those who paid via etransfer, feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about this or need help with payments for the remainder of the season.

GET A $25 CSA CREDIT FOR YOU AND A FRIEND!

We also have a few spots that opened up in the CSA program: so this is a great opportunity to get you a deal on some veggies or extras, which I would love to do! Using the refer-a-friend feature in Harvie, both  you and a friend can get a $25 credit on your Harvie account if they sign up for a CSA share. All you have to do is log into your Harvie account, and click on the "refer-a-friend" menu at the top of your profile. There is a unique URL link in there that you can send to a friend, and when they sign up, you'll both get the credit! But they need to sign up BEFORE FRIDAY, AUGUST 6th to get the credit! There is more info on how to do this here.

Now onto the veggies....

Much of the same crops as last week. More red cabbage, romaines, beautiful red leaf head lettuce, and small amounts of the hot season crops: eggplants, sweet peppers, lemon cucumbers (which are like regular cucumbers, but they look like little lemons!), and fresh bulb onions!

We are also super excited that it is blueberry season again on the coast! We are getting them through Windy Creek Farm located here in the Cariboo, and they are grown at Snowy Mountain Organics. We are taking orders by the pound. Pricing is as follows:

$6.75/lb for any amount up to 5lbs

$6.00/lb for 5lbs or more

They will be added to the extras page. We will be getting these on Friday, JULY 30th, but I am placing the order earlier so that's why I'm putting them in this week's customization email (I'll put them in next week's too). Just so I have an idea of how much to order. But you will get them in your AUGUST 3rd SHARES, not this week's.

So if you are skipping your August 3rd share because of the long weekend, you'll want to wait for another blueberry order. We are hoping to be able to do another one the following week if they're still available, but we're not sure yet if they will be so if you're going to get a share the week of August 3rd, I would get them then, just in case!

Hope you're loving the veggies, everyone! Let me know any questions or concerns as always. See you Tuesday!
