Welcome to the 1st Week of Your Local Farm CSA!

Posted on June 10th, 2021 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Hello everyone!

Very excited to have you all, and launch the CSA season. CSA members are dear to my heart, so I must first say a HUGE thank you to all of you for signing up this year. I hope you love our veggies, and all the abundance this area truly does have to offer during the growing season, and beyond.

For those of you who are new this year, there is always a quick farm update with each customization email that goes out every week. We'll let you know what's new in the fields, fun farm happenings, and any housekeeping for the coming week. Speaking of which! We have at least one for this week:

Mint & Lime is in the middle of some City road work this week, which will make it difficult to access their parking lot. So for this week, please pick up your share from the Tuesday Williams Lake Farmers Market if you are a M&L pick-up! We will be there (Kiwanis Park) from 2-7pm. Thank you for understanding - they really appreciate it too, and will be back on board the following week!

I also have some pretty exciting news to bring you, I think! For the foreseeable future, we have....a local egg supplier! Super stoked about this because local and sustainably raised eggs can be hard to come by. These eggs WILL be available this week, so check the EXTRAS sales in Harvie when you customize your share, if you want some! These eggs are coming to us from Alexandria Springs Farm along the West Fraser, and are fully pasture raised, supplemented with 100% certified organic layer feed. Truly, the best kind of eggs. I may add this as an extra share people can sign up for so they can get eggs every week with their veggies, but for now they will be sold as add-ons.

We are also sourcing local, pasture-raised beef cuts from Hanceville Cattle Co, available only to CSA members! They will be added to the extras page in the next 2 weeks so stay tuned for those.

For now, we hope you enjoy your first veggie box of the season. It's always a lot of greens and roots for the first few weeks, but we have carrots, summer squash, cabbages, and broccoli that are only a 2-3 weeks away.

Thanks again, everyone. Let me know ANY questions at all!

Your Farmer,

Brianna van de Wijngaard
