The 1st Fall Shares going out September 22!

Posted on September 19th, 2020 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Hi, everyone! Some of you are Summer CSA members, carrying on into the fall, which is lovely! Thank you SO much for your continued support: especially as other markets start wrapping up, it's a real blessing for a farm to be able to continue selling produce, and a fall CSA program is one of the few ways to do that. So thank you!

Some of you are new: welcome! I hope this CSA management system makes the process really easy for you to swap items in your share, or purchase extras of what you need. Again, please do let me or Harvie support know of any issues you might have!

As I mentioned earlier, our pick-up options will change a little after the markets wrap up, so I wanted to lay out the options here, in advance, so that you have time to decide which ones will work best for you:

Current pick-up options:

TUESDAY EVENING farmers' market: this market will be done after September 29th, so Tuesday pick-ups at the market AND Mint & Lime will no longer be available after this date.

FRIDAY farmers' market: this market will be done after October 9th, so Friday market pick-ups will no longer be available after this date.

NEW Pick-up/Delivery Options:

2.) WEDNESDAY Mint & Lime pick-ups: Jenn and Mindy have graciously volunteered to be our pick-up location for the fall shares, which is amazing. They have been super awesome all summer, taking in over 40 CSA shares every week, and they have agreed to host some of the Fall shares as well. BIG thanks to them!! Please buy from them if you pick up your shares there! :P Wednesday pick-ups at Mint & Lime will carry on until the Fall shares are done.

3.) WEDNESDAY PUDDLE PRODUCE pick-ups: since Wednesdays will be my town day after markets are done, you can also pick up directly from me from 9am-3pm. I will do home deliveries on Wednesday afternoons.

4.) WILLIAMS LAKE HOME delivery: this option is also available for the duration of the program, but on Wednesdays only. There is a $5 charge per home/work delivery.

I will change the Location options in Harvie after the farmers' markets end,  so that you can adjust your pick-up or delivery preferences from your Harvie profile. I will explain how to do that once folks need to update those pick-up options. So don't worry about making that change until September 29th or October 9th! Until then, they can stay the same.

We still have +5 evening temps in the forecast for a bit, so hoping to get quite a bit out of the fields still! This week, we have more rainbow carrots from Earl at Silver Birch Farm, as well as the last of his Kennebec potatoes. We also have the last of Mackin Creek Orchard's apples. There are 2 varieties with these: a Macintosh variety, and a 40year old heritage apple called Wolfriver. The have a perfect balance of tart and sweet. They are not storage apples, however, so you'll want to eat them fresh!

Will keep you all updated on produce inventory as we move along, but for now, please do peruse your share contents for this week, and swap as much as you like. We will see you this coming Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday.

Thanks, everyone! Be in touch any time, and wishing you all a cozy, safe weekend.
