Farm Happenings for August 21, 2022

Posted on August 19th, 2022 by Grayson Crane

Hi there folks,

Hope everyone is as well as can be out there--some truly strange and muggy weather down here. Thankfully its been pretty painless to work in, the heat not breaking through has made some nice windows for finishing up some weeding. It can also be a funny time of year in terms of harvesting and planting--we're starting to see the summer crops like tomatoes, peppers, and others finally come on while we're also doing the last couple of seedings in the field (some more salad mix and arugula) and greens for the tunnels (lots of head lettuce and sprouting broccoli this winter).

This week brings back more tomatoes, as well as the premiere of sweet peppers! We really knocked it out of the park with these guys this year. Get ready to eat a lot of them. It took a double covering of row cover in May (something I've never done before, even growing in Eastern Canada) but we got peppers dammit.
