Farm Happenings for July 3, 2022

Posted on June 30th, 2022 by Grayson Crane

Hi Folks,

Hope everyone out there is healthy and enjoying the start to summer. We finished up pruning and trellising tomatoes this week, and spotted the first handful of green tomatoes in the tunnel. Compared to last year's intense heat, this year is shaping up to be a better tomato year for our tunnel crops. When it gets much above 85 degrees outside, it becomes hard for us to keep the temperature down in the tomato tunnel. At a certain point, the heat is too much for them and it fries the pollen! Luckily those couple of hot days we had last week we got shade cloth on the peas and tomatoes to save those precious little fruits.

Speaking of peas, this week brings the first round of snow peas to your boxes!

Enjoy the veggies!
