Farm Happenings for August 17, 2021

Posted on August 11th, 2021 by Grayson Crane

Hi CSA Members,

Hope everyone is managing to hang in there with the heat. Apologies for the late delivery notice last week. I had it all set up, and then forgot to click the go button. Whoops. We've been trying our best to keep our work days shorter when we can, water everything and everybody, and generally work within our limits. I know for a lot of local farmers, that last heat wave was really challenging, and physically/emotionally exhausting. Us Pink Moon Farmers are chugging along OK, and we really appreciate your support, positive vibes, and eating. So thank you!

This week we have the continued march of hot crops--you'll see some sweet corn, along with more tomatoes, and the usual offerings of greens and other treats. For me, this is salad season. Chopped salads, salsas, cold spreads, bruschettas of all kinds rule my diet. Too dang hot to turn on the stove or the oven, plus this time of year is go go go still.

Other then the veggies, we've been finishing up field fencing the perimeter and keeping the sheep moving. They get a pretty regular dose sheep "lemonade" which is a mix of molasses, apple cider vinegar, and red cell. It must taste good because I often catch them drinking it and swishing it around in their mouths. We have some spots open for grass fed lamb shares, if you're curious feel free to reach out, or check out our website

Thanks again, and see you at pick up :)
