Meadow Wood Farm 2022 Season

Posted on April 2nd, 2022 by Jessica Linton

To all our new farm families, WELCOME it is lovely to meet you. To our returning families, THANK YOU for joining us for another amazing year of farm fresh food. We have expanded this year to two delivery markets so be sure to check out the information relevant to your location. What hasn't changed this year is the quality of food that we are offering. Buffalo Gap Farm, Hayou Farm, Anathallo Acres, Victory Honey, Dickie Brothers, and Seasons Yield Farm are all joining us for another season.

Over the winter, Seasons Yield purchased their own grain mill and now are milling organically grown, Virginia wheat fresh each time they bake. Hayou Farms has planted even more raspberry canes and I personally can't wait for those juicy berries in June and July. Alex at Anathallo Acres taught me a recipe for crab cakes but instead of crab you use lions mane mushrooms and let me tell you, it was a revelation. Shane at Buffalo Gap is in the midst of calving, all 70 of the cow mamas are pregnant and all giving birth at the same time so it feels like over night the herd has doubled in size. John had amazing overwintering success at Victory Honey and now is facing the huge task of splitting his hives that have grown in massive colonies.

For our Northern Virginia customers, Falls Church and Arlington, your delivery schedule will be every other Thursday starting on April 21. Deliveries will start earlier in the day than last year since we have added the Arlington leg but even if you are not home your farm box will be packaged with an insulated liner and ice packs to keep anything frozen cold until you get back from work. When you receive your box, unpack the items but hold onto packaging items (box, liner, ice pack). We reuse those and will charge your account for any unreturned items. When the next delivery day rolls around, place the previous packaging materials on your front porch and they will be switch out with your new box full of food.

For our Midloathian/Richmond customers, your delivery schedule be every other Saturday starting on April 16. Deliveries will start in Midloathian on Saturday morning. Then from 12-2pm, our customers in Scott's Addition can pick up their orders from the Highpoint at 3330 W Broad St. Your orders will be in the River City Flower Exchange on the second floor. When you grab your box, confirm your name with the gals at the Flower Exchange so there are no mix ups and be sure to check out their flowers, many of which are grown by Meadow Wood Farm! When you get home, unpack your boxes but hold on to the packaging material (box, liner, ice pack). We reuse them and any unreturned items will be charged to your account. For Midloathian customers, on the next delivery day place your previous packaging items on your doorstep and they will be swapped for your new box. For Scott's Addition customers, bring your previous packaging materials with you when you pick up your new box and place them in the return bins.

For both NoVa and Richmond customers, if there are any issues with your orders please reach out to Meadow Wood Farm (571-835-3957 or info@meadowwoodfarm.com) ASAP. Often we will still be in the area making deliveries and can try and remedy any hiccups then and there. Credits and refunds on missing or unsatisfactory goods are offered at our discretion but we will always work with you to try and find the best solution.

We are looking forward to an incredible season and will be offering on farm events as well for our members to come check out the farms where their food is grown and to meet their farmers. If you have time, scroll through our previous happenings and check out any that seem interesting!
