Herb drying, July 2022

Posted on July 18th, 2022 by Timothy Lyon

Sometimes the software we work with makes us laugh instead of cry. Here's a funny from building inventory for shares today. "Cucumber, English 9 pint and 10 eaches." It's official, we're measuring cucumbers in eaches. by the "each"?!

It's the time of year when we are drying herbs for use over the winter. You might get too much of an herb, or order an extra bunch intentionally now to put some away for later. It's super easy to dry herbs by leaving them on a tray in the fridge, hung in a corner of the kitchen and so on. Then, crumble them into a jar and look forward to savouring the flavour when the season is gone. On the list this week is tarragon and oregano. Look out for other ways to save the season.

Zucchini have finally made it to the fruit stage in a serious way, and we hope eggplant, pepper and tomatoes will follow.
