Summer solstice mid-June farm news

Posted on June 22nd, 2021 by Timothy Lyon

Grandmother moon waxes large as Summer solstice greets us with the longest daylights of the year. And there has been an abundance of rain (comparatively) and some overcast days to give everything a needed boost after the rain.

With all the plants in the ground we now begin pruning the tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. Tomatoes and cukes will be trained up strings in the high tunnels. Squash have their male flowers removed and are having the row covers removed for pollination.
