Farm Happenings for the week of November 23, 2019

Posted on November 15th, 2019 by Jessica Foote

Hello all!

I realize that last time I messed up our farm happenings page! But that just means I have more to say now!Hahaha! So the rest of the crew has headed back to Mexico, leaving Tu and I to organize and prepare for 2020! Exciting but also somewhat crazy is the fact that we are already starting on our Organic Certification paperwork & our seed order for next year! Never a dull moment!

I am currently enrolled in a Holistic Soil Nutrition Course, like I needed more work! But my passion for connecting human nutrition with soil health and just straight up curiosity are never going to be quenched! Learning never gets old. Studying soil tests and applying it to our farm is just so cool.

We have a great selection of greens still although with the extreme cold we are experiencing so early in the season I am a little nervous about the longevity of those greens in the tunnels! Mother nature sure likes to test us. We have broccoli, kohlrabi, spicy, spinach, tatsoi, bok choi, and kale in the shares this week. Mesclun isn't fairing as well :( ! Sorry, guys it is off the list for shares and has become a maybe in the Mini Market!

Other exciting options that are available in the extras are our meats, as well as Happenstance bread! Next CSA basket there is also going to be coffee added to the extras! The roaster at Coffee Public knows the family and the farm in Ecuador.

Look forward to seeing you next Saturday & Monday!

Cheers, Jess
