Farm Happenings for the week of December 18, 2021

Posted on December 13th, 2021 by Jessica Foote

Hello All!

We are entering the Holiday Season that can be either fun, or tough, depending on what is being thrown your way, or what the past delivered. Whatever life brings I send you all blessings, as we pass through Winter Solstice December 21, celebrate Xmas on the 25th, and enter the New Year Jan 1st! So many shifts so quickly! Celebrate with family and friends where ever you are and enjoy the moment.

We here at the farm will be carrying on with chores, and enjoying hopefully some snow??? We welcome you to reach out and inquire about a sleigh ride/wagon ride at the farm! Just text or call 905-986-9612. CSA members already get a 25$ discount at 75$. If you are looking for veg, well that part is shut down for 3 weeks because who really wants to be harvesting, washing, and bagging 365 days of the year!

This pick up we have lots of extra goodies available in our Mini market, but we reserved first dibs on greens for our loyal CSA members! So it is exciting to say we have red baby kale, spinach, some baby green chard, and Bok Choi again! ( I know some experiments do to well!) We have also started shoots & sprouts again! Pea Shoots & alfalfa this time around, we will see what we do for Jan 8th, when we will see you all again!

The most exciting news is we welcomed a new addition to the family! Little Astrid! A Springer Spaniel since everyone asks! She is great at climbing out of penning and certainly does have a lot of spring in her step when she gets up in the morning! She makes Dime and Missy look like they were sedated during their puppy hood!

Naughty has come home from his summer job with my best friend so I am back in the saddle and wondering why I ever take a break from the horses! And Calvin, Peg, and Luna are back in action on a regular basis! Now just have to get Selene going, such a big baby, and a little thick....so we will see how it goes! A child who is fearless, trusts, and questions everything is not so easy in the short term, but I am sure will be an incredible addition over the long term!

Well enough of the rambling! Look forward to seeing you this weekend! And best wishes, till the new year...

Cheers your farmer, Jess

SMILE!
