Farm Happenings for the week of August 24, 2021

Posted on August 19th, 2021 by Jessica Foote

The seasons are changing fast! Fall is really just around the corner, I mean the winter squash is ready! We spaghetti squash on offer this upcoming week, and 1 liter tomato baskets (Hoping enough are ripe!), green peppers, eggplants, red fingerling, and regular potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbages, leeks, green onions, cooking onions and watermelons!

So we will have corn included but outside the Harvie program, cause you know that crop I said we tilled in my dad refused, and figured we would scavenge everything that did grow, the kicker is the germination was so extended (ie.span of 3 weeks) that we are very uncertain of how many cobs we will get on a harvest day! So we are going to pick and divide the total daily!

Please let us know if you have a problem with a melon, they are ripening really fast and are pretty much eat now on the day your boxes are received. I have had a couple people complain they were over ripe, they are picked daily, and put in the cool room to try and extend their shelf life, unlike at the grocery store were you get melons that are flavorless because they are picked green.

I am hoping to have the Winter CSA set up with the auto - renew processed in the next two weeks! Look for the heads up for Winter sign up!

Summer CSA auto renew for next year will occur sometime in October,it will be before October 31st and will automatically include the early bird discount for the 2022 season, the date is being determined, please turn off your auto renew settings if you do not wish to roll over to next years Summer CSA membership!

HEADS UP!

I will not be available by phone. Thanks for respecting our break away!
