Farm Happenings for the week of October 1, 2019

Posted on September 26th, 2019 by Jessica Foote

Hello all,

Well with 5 weeks left of the 2019 Summer CSA it is hard to believe the row cultivator has been retired already for the frenzied winter harvest & extra fall markets! Sleep is elusive and the race is on, must get all veggies tucked in before the first of November when my incredible crew parts ways for the winter months! I am glad we do a Winter CSA on farm otherwise it might get a little lonely around here! Hahaha!

Winter won't be less busy though, on the horizon is a college course on soil health & nutrition, the EFAO (Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario) Conference, and more Spanish courses. Always working to improve! I am also looking forward to many hours in the saddle with McNaughty, and keeping my teams fit for the winter hopefully with some wagon/sleigh rides!

Well this week many sweet peppers and eggplants on offer, pie pumpkins, our first CSA harvest of rutabaga, and an opportunity to taste daikon!

Looking forward to seeing you at drop offs!

Cheers, Jess
