Farm Happenings for the week of June 22, 2021

Posted on June 17th, 2021 by Jessica Foote

Hello to all,

We are entering our third week of the farm share, time is going to fly! Last week we finished planting 17,500 slips of sweet potatoes, and all our heat loving crops! Yesterday, we revealed a beautiful planting of zucchini just starting to flower! Cucumbers are starting to flower as well! The strawberries are leaving us so fast with the heat we are probably done the patch, with only a few surplus to go to market :( . We did plant almost double this year for next year 12 full rows! So something sweet to look forward to! And sad news is our sweet corn never recovered from the frost so it will be a till down job, so few plants occupying a lot of space, that needs to be reseeded into something productive. In farming you win some and lose some!

This week garlic scapes will be on the menu, so Cilantro & Dill pesto (Limited quantities), kale, chard, mesclun, head lettuce, some tatsoi, green onions, mushrooms, potatoes, and a few other odds and sods! On the horizon are fresh bunched beets, and zucchini!

Looking forward to seeing you all this week!

Cheers your farmer, Jess
