Farm Happenings for the week of September 10, 2019

Posted on September 6th, 2019 by Jessica Foote

Finally a group photo! We had aimed to have one much earlier but you know how plans go....life gets in the way, or maybe in this case some vegetables need to cared for or harvested! Above is the team that makes this farm happen to varying degrees they have all touched this farm in a very special way either in the field or with book keeping, or many other behind the scenes daily functions. I have to say thank you all those from past to present that keep your garden growing.

The fall harvest is starting and next week will see us start to clear the field of all our winter squash and put them into winter storage! Hard to believe it seems like the summer just started. Hope everyone adjusted to their new school routine!

We have some fun new veggies coming up like sweet potatoes! Yumyum! Sweet corn which I will not be putting through Harvie, I will bring it to drop off and divide the harvest among the number of shares that day, the crop is to limited and varying in development to accurately predict the harvest. Sorry, for any inconvenience! We will also have some new types of winter squash available, & some cooking onions. That being said cooking onions & leeks will be very limited this year as they are certainly the crop that suffered the most from the drought! It is hard to see one of our generally most successful crops do so poorly!

Don't forget to sign up for your Winter CSA which starts on November 2nd, so you never run out of fresh, local organic veggies! And if you want first dibs on our 2020 season sign up before October 31st and get an early bird discount of 25$!

We will see you at drop offs, or come say hi at the big brown building when you are picking up on farm on Tuesdays!

Cheers, Jessica Foote
