We’re just going to ignore the elephant in the room and assume that at some point, it will rain. In the meantime, we’re planting and watering and otherwise, doing all we can to keep our gardens healthy and abundant. I hope you are doing the same to enjoy the summer and (perhaps) a slower lifestyle that includes vacations and times to refresh and renew.

Our sourdough bread making class went very well. Our only regret is that we couldn’t host as many people as would like to have come. We’re hoping to do another class in the fall.

In the meantime, Drew Elliot is going to teach us how to make pie crust. Those of us who live in or near Berea will remember his bakery Clementine’s where he wowed his customers with amazing breads, pies, quiches, and chocolate croissants among other yummy items. He’s made a big life transition and is headed to medical school soon! So, we feel very grateful to have snagged him before he gets way over his head in school stuff. The class will be Wednesday, July 27th, 6:00-7:30ish, at my kitchen on the farm. Sign-ups will be through Eventbrite and links will be posted through our emails to CSA members.

Can’t make the pie crust event? We’re cooking up some other events that we hope you might enjoy – Indian cooking, how to make kimchi and fermented foods, Mexican cooking, Asian cooking with a wok, as well as events that highlight local chefs and food entrepreneurs in our community. Super excited to even get to be planning these kinds of happenings given the challenges of event-planning in the past couple of years.
