Welcome to the 2023 Kilt Farm CSA

Posted on June 9th, 2023 by Michael Moss

Hello from a very busy and wet Kilt farm!

We are so excited about the start of the CSA season! We have been working diligently all spring to get fresh healthy food from our soil to your table and the moment is finally upon us! Despite all of the unpredictable weather this season, which continues to be a challenge for farmers, our fields have been making a beautiful recovery and are vibrant with new growth.

Our salad mixes are abundant and have been loving the cooler temperatures, so you can expect to see a lot of leafy greens, head lettuce and bunching greens in these first few weeks. Until the summer crops really get going, there may be weeks when the shares are lack luster. It is our goal to grow the best food possible all summer long and balance out the value of the share over the entire arc of the season.

Gratefully, over this past few weeks we have gotten all of our peppers, artichokes eggplants, cucumbers, okra and squash into the ground and have been finishing the seeding of our melons, cantaloupes and winter squashes. The greenhouse is starting to fill up with our fall broccoli, cauliflower and cabbages. Once the Summer heat starts up in earnest, all of the crops around the farm are going to explode with growth. This always brings me hope.

We cannot express how grateful we are to be a part of such a supportive community on our side. Without you none of this would be possible, and we cannot wait to share the bounty of the season to come with you. We are so lucky to call you a part of our Kilt Family.

Add-Ons

We are fortunate to partner with local farms and high quality local producers each year to come up with amazing items to add to your share. This year we have:

- Kilt Farm Raw Honey - the hives are right on our property and our good friend Dean Chalpa tends the hives and jars up this honey for us. It's our job to make sure there are plenty of flowers to feed the bees.

- Hazel Dell Mushrooms - a yummy rotating selection of organic mushrooms in ½ pound bags.

- Fresh Dried Pasta - We are partnering with Pastifico to provide 16oz box of pasta (typically feeds 4) every week. Each week, it's a different shape, and of course every week it's always delicious. This week, we are offering fusilli.

- Flowers from Boulder Herb Company - These amazing farm bouquets range the entire Colorado spectrum of flowers.

When you customize your box, look at the add ons and add 'em on if you want some on your table for the week.

If there are any issues with your customization, your orders or during pick up, please reach out to us as soon as possible so we can make everything right for you.

Thanks so much for being a member of our farm. See you soon,

Michael and all of the farmers at Kilt Farm.
