CSA Week 2 - Summer is Approaching

Posted on June 10th, 2022 by Asud Shirazi

Happy Friday.

As the seasons shift from spring to summer, our work here on the farm is rapidly changing pace. The weather is getting hotter, summer is getting closer, and our plants are flourishing as the farm continues to burst with life. This week, we have been harvesting red and chioggia beets, cilantro, collards, a variety of kales, chard, shallot scapes, and more.

While the team has been working hard to prepare this coming CSA, there has also been much planting: Beans, parsley, romance carrots, dill, and turnips, among many other delicious organic crops, have been going into the ground. And of course, we continue to tend to our radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, lettuces, garlic, and a bounty of colorful and nutritious veggies.

It is amazing to watch our plants reach upward from the ground -- and it is amazing to be able to share this beautiful experience with you.

Add-Ons

As always, we are thankful to have the opportunity to partner with local farms and producers. We are offering mushrooms, fresh dried pasta, flowers, honey, and eggs each week which you can add to your share.

This season due to many factors outside of our control, we did not feel comfortable offering season long eggs. But, our dear friends at Skypilot Farms in Longmont have been able to provide a limited amount of eggs each week, so be sure to add eggs to your order early so you can secure your dozen. Skypilot takes pride in offering large fields for their hens to roam and forage, and their hens are fed and nourished with an organic feed. With colorful and flavorful yolks, you can truly taste the difference coming from these happy hens. We can't recommend them enough, and we are grateful to be able to work with Skypilot this year.

We are excited to share this coming week's CSA bounties with you.
