Let's Start the 2022 CSA Season. Woohoo!

Posted on June 3rd, 2022 by Asud Shirazi

Hello from a very busy Kilt Farm.

I hope you are as excited about the start of the CSA season as we are. We have been really working our collective tails off this spring to have the fields full of food. Through a wild spring of high wind, heat, cold, snow, more winds and drought we have been able to fill our farm with food. Just this week we have finished planting all of our tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and artichokes plus we have been seeding the summer squash, winter squash and our utterly delicious melons.

The fields are flourishing with bright & vibrant colors, remarkable smells and sights, thriving soil, and of course, an incredible staff making it all happen. While last year we experienced the wettest spring we've had in our time farming here, and this year the weather has been, well, quite unpredictable, we are fortunate to have copious amounts of incredible crops this season -- growing perhaps as fast as our toddler, Aiden.

We cannot express our gratitude to you all enough - Without you, we could not do what we do. Each of you play a critical role on our farm - You are the roots of our mission we strive to carry out with every step we take. Sharing our hard work, delicious food, and health & nourishment with this community is the back-bone of what we do, and why we do it. We are lucky to call you a part of our Kilt Family.

In pursuit of good food,

Michael, Cayla, and the Kilt Farm Staff

Add-Ons

We are fortunate to partner with local farms and high quality local producers each year to come up with amazing items to add to your share. This year we have:

- Kilt Farm Raw Honey - the hives are right on our property and our good friend Dean Chalpa tends the hives and jars up this honey for us. It's our job to make sure there are plenty of flowers to feed the bees.

- Skypilot eggs - These are local eggs from hens that roam with the opportunity to forage and are fed with organic feed. We will only be offering 23 dozen each week, so be sure to snag your dozen early if you are interested in trying out these tasty eggs.

- Hazel Dell Mushrooms - a yummy rotating selection of organic mushrooms in ½ pound bags.

- Fresh Dried Pasta - We are partnering with Pastifico to provide 16oz box of pasta (typically feeds 4) every week. Each week, it's a different shape, and of course every week it's always delicious. This week, we are offering fusilli.

- Flowers from Boulder Herb Company - These amazing farm bouquets range the entire Colorado spectrum of flowers.

When you customize your box, look at the add ons and add 'em on if you want some on your table for the week.

Covid protocols (we know, we're tired of it too)

For our pickup folks: When you pick up your shares from the tote with your name on it (please remember to stack these after moving your shares to your own reusable bag), please be mindful of Covid since the numbers are on the rise again. At this time, masks are optional, but a gentle reminder to respect others' space and reach out to us if you have been exposed to Covid so we can make other arrangements for your pickups.

Enjoy your first week of the 2022 CSA! We cannot wait to share it with you.
