4 Inches of snow and 14 degrees - Week 19

Posted on October 11th, 2019 by Michael Moss

It is amazing in Colorado that you can have a day with a 50 plus degree temperature drop. What a wild week we worked through. 80 Degrees on Wednesday afternoon and then rain/snow and then a deep freeze on Thursday. We are so blessed to have some fantastic weather forecasting. We spent this first part of the week preparing our farm for the cold and harvesting as much food as possible. It was a wild week but the picture above shows that we try to have some fun through the process.

Now that the sun has come out I can take stock of the damage from the weather. Gratefully much of the crops still in the ground are frost tolerant and the blanket of snow helped buffer todays 14 degree cold. It does look like some crops will be more impacted then others but we will have plenty of food for our last two weeks.

Fruit Share - This is the final week of the Fruit Share. We will have apples, pears and cider to finish off an amazing fruit season.

Extra Items Available - This week we will have Honey Crisp apples, Bartlett pears, apple cider, pie pumpkins and Kilt Farm Honey available as extras to add to your share.

2020 CSA - We will be sending out information about our 2020 CSA and opening up registration with in the next week. We want to give all of our current members the opportunity to to join and spread the word to their friends and family before we open it up to the general public. Stay tuned.

Thanks for being a part of our CSA.
