Week 16 CSA - Seasons Change

Posted on September 17th, 2020 by Michael Moss

Even though it feels like summer might not want to loosen its grip with all the heat and smoke, but I know the seasons are changing. The shorter days and the cooler nights really gets me to start looking around for the first color in the trees around the farm. Plus the the food that we harvest is starting to shift as well.

This week we are still in the beautiful bounty of the peppers, but we are also starting to harvest our bunching greens, turnips, fall radishes and the first of our endives. Next week we will start harvesting our Napa cabbage, green cabbage, broccoli with more great fall crops on the way. Soon I may even need to start wearing pants around the farm, but I put it off as long as I can.

Fruit Shares - This week we have Golden Supreme Apples and Bartlett pears.

Flower Shares - Last weeks freeze and snow put a real dent in the field flowers over at Boulder Herb Company. Chet the farmer told me that we are going to see a lot of lilies over the remainder of the season.

Preserving Quantities - This week we have a lots of perfect peppers for your preserving pleasure. Plus pears, carrots, and apples to keep your busy and your panty full.

Thank you for being a member of the farm. We can't do it with out you.
