Here come the summer crops.

Posted on July 18th, 2019 by Michael Moss

Holy hot days here in Boulder County. I hope you have been able to stay cool through all of this heat. We have been starting at sunrise this week to be able to harvest our crops and do our work before the heat becomes almost unbearable and unsafe in the fields. The picture above is Adrienne, our harvest manager, and I walking the fields and inspecting the bounty to come, at sunrise of course.

The heat loving crops like tomatoes, eggplants and peppers are getting very close to full blown harvests. Over the next few weeks we will have small amounts of these items to put into shares. Before you know it there will be an abundance.

Western Slope Cherries  We have been partnering with Ela Family Farms for many years now to source the best in organic fruit for our members. Our Fruit Share is going to be starting the week of June 30th. Even thought we are a few weeks away we are excited to be offering Ela Organic Cherries this week. We will have 1.5# bags of cherries available to add into your share this week for $9. These cherries are a once in a decade treat, so get em while you can!

Come visit the farm. NEXT WEEKEND! You are invited to come out to the farm for tours, snacks, hay rides and great conversations with your farmers and other CSA Members. Put this in your calendar and come walk among the amazing food. If you ask nicely, we may even let you drive a tractor.

Date: Saturday June 27th 11am-3pm
Location: 8140 Oxford Rd, Niwot

Stay cool and enjoy the normal summer time temperatures of forecasted next week. I know all of us at the farm, plants included, will enjoy the break from the heat wave.
