CSA Week #3

Posted on May 27th, 2022 by Bonnie and Rudy Geber

How cool is this?! While actual owls aren't really the inspiration behind our farm name, we still consider it a good omen every time we see them. This pic is near our Home Plot where Rudy has been hearing owls for many weeks now, but hadn’t actually laid eyes on them till this week. It’s an adult and baby owl living in a hollowed out tree, and now that they’ve let Rudy see them, they seem to be letting him catch more and more glimpses every time he walks by (or maybe that’s just how we’ll interpret it!). Hopefully this is a very good sign for the season ahead, we’re certainly taking it as one!

Time to hop on your profile (if you’d like) to customize your CSA box for next week. We have many of the same crops available as last week, with one exciting addition – carrots! We really wanted to get everyone some carrots in their box this week, but couldn’t be quite sure that we’d have enough this being the first harvest from them. So if you have carrots in your box, consider yourself lucky. And if you didn’t get some, then have no fear there will be MANY to come soon! Don’t forget to add on or swap any other items into your box, this week we’ve got:

- Farm Fresh eggs from the Miller Farm

- Mixed daffodil bouquets from Dragon's Breath Farm – Likely the last bouquets until summer flower time!

- Bread and Bagels from The Gracious Table

- Honey from McLaury Apiaries

- Plant Starts from our own farm – Cherry Tomato 6-packs (a mix of Super Sweet 100, Sungold, and Black Cherry tomatoes), bell peppers, and a few zucchini starts.

- Our fabulous new Hoot Owl Farm tee-shirts. If you choose to get a shirt, then you can let us know what color and size you'd like at your pick up. We have cream and green available in adult sizes S-3XL, and yellow available in kids S-L.
