Happy New Year from Harvest Tide! Delivery January 7th!

Posted on January 1st, 2020 by Bethany Allen

Happy New Year from your Farmers!

It's a new decade and we're jumping in with loads of excitement! 2019 was a huge year of growth for our farm and our family, and we're feeling really good about 2020.  We have so many exciting plans for the CSA (new veggies, improving the Upick, more events, more delivery locations), and the farm (lots of building plans!!)  now that we've made it through the holidays, we're so ready to dig in and start laying the groundwork for some changes that will make the farm more sustainable and more accessible.

We're also just about to launch our early bird sign-ups for our existing customers for the 2020 Summer Season.  Stay-tuned!  Current members and 2019 Summer members who sign-up in our early bird window will get some great perks and we have a fun raffle for you too!

You'll get an email in the next week announcing the details!

We have some great extras to spice up your share this week!

Your "Pantry Item" this week is a beautiful jar of summer ie local, organic whole pealed tomatoes, lovingly canned in Brunswick by our beloved Jenn at Turtle Rock Farm.

You can enjoy these tomatoes in summery tomato pasta sauce, slice onto pizza, or branch out and try one of my favorites, chicken tikka masala.  This is my favorite recipe as it offers lots of options for personalizing, and has the best chicken marinade.  Simply chop the tomatoes super fine and add in in place of the sauce it calls for!

  • Northern Spy Apples from The Apple Farm - $6.00/3 lb bag

Our favorite flower farmers and neighbors, Julia and David at East of Eden, have launched their dahlia tuber sale via their website!

If you are in the dreaming/scheming stages of your garden this summer, add some local color, by supporting these awesome growers.  They've got a great growing guide right there on their website, and have lots of interesting colors and types - I'm eyeing some of the orange or salmon ones for my new garden at the farm house!

Reminder:  now that we're through the holidays, we're on a regular bi-weekly schedule for the rest of the deliveries.  Here's the schedule from here on out:
