Week Two Shares and some sunshine!

Posted on June 14th, 2019 by Bethany Allen

Week one is finally done, and while there is much fine tuning to be done, considering the number of firsts this week (first delivery with the new truck, first harvest with the new crew, new delivery route, first custom harvest with Harvie) things went preeeetttty well. I'm cruising into the weekend tired, but pleased - and excited about week two's shares!

Despite the still mostly overcast skies - the smattering of sun we've got and the deluges of rain have kept all the veggies chugging along and we've got some great produce coming down the line.  In fact there is a lot!  So be sure to check in and customize your share and add extras if your feeling like cooking!

Other happenings on the farm: sweet potatoes are planted!  Our awesome crew got this done faster than ever, and in just three short months we'll be curing sweet potatoes again to eat through the winter!

RETURNING BOXES

Yes, please return your boxes!  We aim (and budget) for at least 70% return rate.  Boxes are expensive and reusing them helps us save dollars and creates way less waste.  We also repurpose those large box liners, you can send them back with your boxes if you like.

Here's how you do it:

If you are in an office - break down your box and remove the sticker with your name.  Store the boxes somewhere near the pick-up location that works for your drop site.  Eric will pick-up the boxes on his next delivery.  We'll grab them every week so if you forget one week, you can just bring it the next.

Public pick-up sites - each one is different, we'll contact you by site to let you know how to return your box!

New Share Ordering Schedule!

You may have noticed that you go this email on Sunday rather than Friday, and that the "cut off" is closer to when you will actually pick-up.  We've divided our two deliveries into two ordering sessions, so we can be more accurate with harvest and what's available.   For Thursday deliveries, we'll be letting you know over the weekend what'll be in your box and you'll have until Tuesday night to edit your shares!

***4th of July Reminder***

Here are the details on the 4th of July that were emailed last week - please log-in to your Harvie account to update your share delivery if needed, do not reply to this email.

This year the 4th of July falls squarely on a Thursday - your delivery day.  We've been surveying work places, trying to get a good idea of what is the best solution and we decided a series of options is the best way to accommodate the most people.  So read on for the full skinny on how to plan for your share that holiday week.

Shares scheduled for the 4th will be delivered to open offices and public spots on Friday the 5th.  So if your office is open on the 5th and you will be in the office, then your share will head your way as usual, just one day late.

We know some offices are closed or on skeleton crew, and many people will be on a 4 day weekend. We have options for you too!

1) You can reschedule your share for pick-up at our public pick-ups.
You can have your share delivered to on of our locations open to the public:
Portland
-Tuesday July 2nd or 9th to Rising Tide Brewery in East Bayside (pick-up from 3-6:30 Tuesday)
-Brackett Street Neighborhood location in Portland's West End (pick-up Friday the 5th 3 PM - 7PM).
Brunswick:
-Turtle Rock Farm Cannery in the Brunswick Landing in Cook's Corner (pick-up Tuesday from 2Pm to 6PM)
Falmouth:
-Falmouth Foreside Community Church on (Tuesday 1:30-5:30 PM)
Lewiston:
-Guthrie's Middle Street Lewiston (Friday the 5th 2PM - 8PM)
You can find all the locations mapped here: http://www.harvesttideorganics.com/drop-off-locations

2) You can pick-up at the farm any time from Friday (5th) through Sunday (7th) of that week.  If you want to make the drive, or live close enough for it to be worth it, you can reschedule your pick-up for the farm.  We'll hold all shares for farm pick-up through the weekend (they'll live in our walk-in cooler), so you can come at your convenience.

3) You can reschedule your share for delivery to your office for another week.  This can be for any week before or after the week of the 4th and will basically be a double share one week.

4) You can put your share on hold and think about it.  If you are not really sure, you can sign into Harvie and put your share on "hold," which will preserve your delivery and you can reschedule it at your convenience.  You will not receive a delivery the week of July 4th unless you remove it from hold and select a new location before June 30th.

You can do any and all of this rescheduling by logging into your Harvie account (www.harvie.farm) and selecting the yellow link of the left labeled "Deliveries" Under the week of the 4th, you will see the option to change location or day of delivery.

Hopefully these options give everyone something that works for them!
We recommend making any necessary delivery changes ASAP as if your changes are not made by Sunday June 30th, your share will be locked in for delivery and it will be too late to
change.

 Happy Week 2 to All!
