Farm Happenings for March 10, 2023

Posted on March 3rd, 2023 by Greg Stainton

Greetings Farm Members!

Exciting things are starting to happen on the farm!

Sap is flowing, Greens are growing, we have a new pick up option and new products available on the online store.

This week we have started tapping our maple trees; the sap is slowly starting to flow, we expect to have some syrup by mid to late March, we'll keep you posted.

We have most of our spring veggies planted in trays in the greenhouse; We have also started some microgreens so that we can offer something fresh, delicious and chock full of nutrients, even before the spring veggies are in the ground. It is our first time doing this but we are hoping for our first harvest in about two weeks.

We will be offering a few products from other local producers as options for your farm shares and at the online farm store.  This week we will be adding locally crafted jam, jelly and pickles from Top Shelf Preserves.  Expect to see them on the website in the coming days.  Based on social medial feedback, we have also ordered 1kg bags of 1847 stone milled flours (bread and all purpose) made from locally grown and ground organic grains.  They should arrive this week and be available on our store next week.  There are also 2.5 and 20 kg options, let us know if you are interested in larger size options of this delicious flour!

Lastly, many of you have told us you like to pick up your farm share at the Brockville market so we have added this as a pick up option:).

Have a great week!

Greg and Kate.
