Farm Happenings for August 1, 2018

Posted on July 26th, 2018 by Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht

FARM NEWS: we are seeing a tiny bit of red peeking out from the tomato plants, and harvested our first eggplants this week, so hopefully we will have those for you soon!

Nice to finally get some rain this week, although it means the weeds grow even faster and since the tractors can’t get it the field when it’s wet (it compacts the soil), they get a nice head start on us.

We had a fun field walk with the staff (see photo) to learn about all the different types of melons and tomatoes we are growing, in conjunction with our upcoming Organic Melon Festivals (Aug 4-5 and 11-12) and TomatoFest! (Aug 18-19 and 25-26). We hope you will join us!
