What's in the Box?

The spinach is in it's glory, the lettuce mix is perfection, and our radishes and turnips are having their perfect moment.

The cilantro and parsley are also flourishing and add the most delightful zip to just about every dish.

While all of this can add up to salad, may I suggest you try your hand at my favorite sort of dish, which is often called a "bowl".

In general a bowl starts with a base of grains (rice, quinoa, etc), or salad greens, topped with protein of choice, then a mix of raw and roasted veggies, finished with fresh herbs and some sort of shockingly good sauce.

Here are some examples to get your ideas flowing:

ON THE FARM

I'm feeling deeply grateful that so many of you took the time to fill in my little survey (if you want to have your say, find it here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RDR6YJH).

I thought I'd share a few takeaways so far:

Nearly everyone plans to join us again (YAY!)

There's a great deal of gratitude for fresh, organic, locally grown veggies and the difference in flavor and quality that they offer

Lots of folks would like the opportunity to tour the farm

  • There is a great deal of demand for more broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and asparagus, and many members would like to see more fruit, strawberries in particular (which should be coming your way next spring!)
  • Large bell peppers are prefered over the little lunchbox type (and a clear choice between them is desired)
  • Several members would like us to grow pickling cucumbers and roma tomatoes, and few would like shelling peas
  • Word of mouth is the biggest way that new members find us

There are of course lots of other wonderful bits of feedback that I've poured over and absorbed, but the reoccuring themes are above.

Thanks for helping us make the Farm Share better, I promise to do my best to fulfill your veggie dreams because you all are my dreams come true.

That's all for now and happy eating until next time,

Tamara
