Farm Happenings for October 19, 2021

Week 4 - Our fall season has just flown by! We are so thankful for your support and participation! We are also extremely thankful that we have the Best CSA Members in Nashville - did you hear? It's official, we were voted the Best CSA in Nashville for the seventh straight year! It's mind-blowing!! We are just giddy over this news! Thank you for continuing to believe in us and encourage us in this amazing way!

Please keep in mind that we have our Family Farm Day planned for Saturday October 30th from 10-3PM. Stop by anytime, pack a lunch and come enjoy the farm! We would love for you to see exactly where your food is grown! Your children and/or grandchildren will love it! There are ponies to ride and chickens to chase! The address is 612 Shores Rd. Scottsville, KY.

This week we are including some additional items again like Organic Raw Sugar, GMO-Free Montana Wheat Flour, Organic Rolled Oats, Organic Brown Rice and more. These are not particularly local items, but they are GMO-Free and/or organic. We thought it would be nice to provide some of these staple pantry items that we use and love.

On a side note, I (Stephanie) sure have been blessed by all the feedback and conversations around my real estate postcards. Many of you have known me for years and years as the organic produce girl. Your family has trusted me to bring the very best locally grown, organic food to your family's table. What a privilege! I have not taken this responsibility lightly. My hope is that you will get to know me as a realtor as well. I am passionate about healthy eating - and healthy investments! Real Estate is, most likely, your biggest financial investment. Farmhouse Nashville was born out of necessity. As a mother of four young children, I desired to feed my family nourishing food, healing food, local food and affordable food. I was disheartened at the prices of organic and was determined not to feed my family food that was from factory farms and laden with chemicals, pesticides and shipped in from thousands of miles away! Was that even possible? Fifteen years ago I joined a raw milk co-op in West Nashville. It was a step in the right direction. Our raw milk farmer was an Old Order Mennonite farmer. We were thrilled to have found a source for affordable, clean, healthy milk. Finding organic produce in this same community was a lot harder than I envisioned. It is a myth that Amish and Mennonite farmers are organic. Only two farmers in this community are growing organically. After months of searching, I discovered Golden Rule farm growing against the "grain" of the community. They were convinced and convicted that organic farming was the only way to grow nourishing, flavorful foods that would heal not only our bodies, but the land. Our partnership was only the beginning of this story. We started offering CSA shares to friends and family in Lebanon, then Mount Juliet and today, we serve hundreds of families in Middle Tennessee. Our commitment to nutrient-dense produce, pasture raised eggs and meats is undeniable. We work together to offer food that is not only healthier but affordable for families. We believe that foods grown organically are naturally best, but we also know that foods raised without the use of pesticides, chemicals and herbicides are healing the land. We use trace minerals and nutrients to enrich the soil. Organic is good, but nutrient-dense is better! Come share in the harvest and see and taste the difference of Fresh, Local, Real Food!
