Farm Happenings for Aug 16-21 2021

Posted on August 15th, 2021 by Marnie Chown

It was a hot one last week wasn't it!?! Everyone on the farm survived just fine but I'm sure we all sweated off a few pounds while working in the heat and humidity!

There's not too much new to report this week. We are patiently watching the fall crops mature and checking them every time we walk by in anticipation of eating the first winter squash!

Pictured above in a lovely little bee in the zinnia patch. The zinnias are the start of the show right now, pumping out more and more colourful blooms are we cut them. The sunflowers are all finished since we only had space for one planting, and the remaining strawflowers will be dried. Stay tuned to see how we use them in the fall...I'm cooking up a plan in my head for some pretty things but we will have to see how much time we have to realistically put towards that project. They might just end up being dried and stored this year...we will see!

We hope you're all enjoying the corn from Forman Farms from last week!! We will be getting more this week alongside some of their beefsteak tomatoes to fill in the tomato gap we have at the moment.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding the Forman Farms produce!

Sarah has some new products this week!! New in the extras area from Barking Root Botanicals is peppermint tea and arnica oil.

I'm personally excited to try the peppermint tea!!
