Farm Happenings for Oct 5, 2020

Posted on October 4th, 2020 by Marnie Chown

Oh my gosh it's October!! I can't believe we are at the final week of deliveries for the season already!

Thanks so much for being a part of our farming journey this year!! It has been a real pleasure getting to know all of you throughout the year and we really hope you enjoyed being here with us.

Many people have been asking how the season has gone for us and I'm not quite sure how to sum it all up! I have been saying: "fine, considering everything...". I'm not sure that's a satisfying answer haha!

Thinking back now, we had an odd spring (early and dry), drought conditions for the better part of two months, a cooler-than-normal September and an early frost (early by three weeks)...oh yeah and Covid!! It's been quite the year!

Regardless, our veggie growing is coming to an end for the year and we are excited for the change. We will miss seeing you all each week but we will still be quite active in the facebook group and I will work on showing more of the behind the scenes stuff over the off-season.

This time of year is when we get to focus on the bigger picture things like leaning-up our work spaces, planning our crops and strategies for next year, building infrastructure where needed and tuning up all of our equipment so it's ready to go in the spring.

We are SO EXCITED for next year already!! With all the challenges of 2020 we seem to be coming out of it with some bruises but still in one piece...and that gives me confidence that our 2021 season will be even better! With our infrastructure mostly finished, more land in production, a rockstar crew planning to return and new evolving partnerships everyday we can't help but be excited for the future!!!

We will be figuring out the details of the shares for 2021 in the next few weeks, so if you're keen to join us again I will be sending out all that info when we've got it ready. :)

After this week, we will most likely still have some veggies to harvest! For now our plan is to offer them through the Farm Stand for pickup at the farm on Fridays and Saturdays. Stay tuned to your inbox for when we make them available for purchase! We will likely have spinach, kale, chard, green onions, kohlrabi, arugula, lettuce and romaine to choose from.
