Half way through and new things coming!

Posted on August 8th, 2020 by Mike Nolan

We're into the second half of our regular CSA season. How are we all holding up? We hope your weekly shares have helped you mark the passage of time and stay grounded. Eating seasonally is one of the best things we can do for our health, and for the land. August at Earth Spring Farm means melons, summer squash, tons of herbs, the return of greens, beautiful root veggies, and quickly approaching peak tomato season. So much to love.

On Sale This Week: Grassfed Butter from Apple Valley Creamery

We have a stash of the best local grassfed butter you can find, and it's time to get them out to good homes. Apple Valley Creamery uses cream from their pastured Jersey cows, and just a little bit of salt, to make 1lb. tubs of delicious butter that is so good you could eat with a spoon. Don't knock it 'til you try it ;-) One container will last a reasonable family a good while, but for my fellow Paula Deens out there, you might want to stock up and get a couple. Sale price: $8.50/lb. Only 15 left!

Bulk Cucumbers - Let's get ready to pickle!

We've got cucumbers for sale: 10 cases for $15. Indulge your inner prepper and make some homemade pickles to save for a rainy day. Never pickled before? It's easy! Check out this how-to article.

Speaking of Pickles...

Number 1 Sons (D.C.) has been a wonderful wholesale partner with us, but they're reformatting their model a bit, and will be discontinuing their wholesale program, so our supply of their pickles made with our produce may be limited for a while. See the extras section while customizing your order this week to pick up some ESF-produce pickles while supplies last!

Lots of Sugar Baby Watermelon this week!

The watermelon is popping out the fields like crazy, and it's SO good! Order as many extra melons as your heart desires this week.

The Fruit Share this week is TBD. Apologies that we don't have an answer yet for this week! Rest assured that it will be in-season and very delicious.

Coming Soon...

We're continuing to form new partnerships to offer more ways for our members to connect with excellent local producers. Our next venture involves a great Mt. Pleasant business that makes globally inspired prepared foods, often featuring ESF produce. Stay tuned!

Be well,

Morgan + The Earth Spring Farm Team
